TRE Administrator Guide

Overview

The TRE Administrator monitors the day-to-day operational governance of the Trusted Research Environment. Where the TRE Infrastructure Administrator provisions the underlying infrastructure (datasets, computes, workstation templates), the TRE Administrator oversees how that infrastructure is used — monitoring active workstations, processing user requests, managing project membership, and auditing platform activity.

This guide walks you through each area of responsibility:

  1. Workstations — Monitor status, usage, and cost of active workstations.
  2. Datasets — Review the datasets available in the TRE catalog.
  3. Requests — Approve or deny workstation, data upload, and data download requests.
  4. Project Members — Add and manage members across projects.
  5. Audit Logs — Audit resource consumption, usage, and access across the platform.

Before you begin, ensure you have signed in to the TRE Administrator app with the appropriate credentials. The left-hand Navigation Menu is the primary entry point into each of the workflows below.
